Prior to 2009, residents and visitors had no casino-style gambling or slot machines in Ohio; there are currently four casinos, one each in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo. There are no Native American tribal casinos to date. In 2012, the Ohio State Lottery Commission approved the installation of VLTs at racetracks statewide. These machines are played exactly like regular slot machines and the tracks are now known as 'racinos'. Legal gambling age at both casinos and racinos is 21 and over. The Casino Control Commission oversees the regular casinos to assure players that all laws are being strictly followed. Casinos report to the Commission on a monthly basis, so the crown for loosest slots in Ohio changes monthly. The top three contenders are as follows:

Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati

Opened in 2013, this downtown Cincinnati casino houses around 2,000 of the hottest slots to be found. Gaming excitement can be had for as little as a penny, or up to $500.00 for serious slot players. The casino is smoke-free, but you can find 124 slots in The Parlor that have been designated for smokers. Besides regular slot tournaments, every Wednesday is a Super Senior Slot Tournament. Gaming isn't just for the youngsters! Collect your Total Rewards card before you start playing so you can rack up points for all sorts of prizes and giveaways.

Horseshoe Casino Cleveland

The historic Higbee Building in downtown Cleveland welcomed this casino in 2012. With 1,781 gaming machines, their promotion touts the casino as 'home of the best odds, highest limits, and biggest jackpots’ or in other words, some of the loosest slots in Ohio. Slots range from penny machines up to a high limit of $500.00. Their high tech machines feature the exclusive Total Touch service where players can order their favorite drinks right at the machine itself. A few of their newest games include Dragon's Law, Let's Make A Deal, Solstice Celebration, and The Walking Dead.

Hollywood Casino Columbus

The largest gaming floor in Ohio with 2,500 machines to choose from, this glitzy Vegas-style casino opened its doors in 2012. Players will find old favorite reels, video, and progressive slots with gigantic jackpots to be had; everything from Betty Boop to Wheel of Fortune. Some of the latest, most popular include Sphinx 3-D, Super Monopoly Money, and Montezuma. Again, this is a non-smoking venue but they have recently added a new slot section for smokers.
